Lines Spoken by This Houseguest:
- "Cities are as alive, fickle, and uncertain as people. Some are good; some bad, some give you gifts; others rob you blind."
- "Courage brings victory."
- "The good we do today will likely be forgotten tomorrow, but let's do it anyway."
- "Humility. Always humility. The only victories that matter in life are those you win against yourself."
- "I always try to be kind to people and give them reason to believe in the goodness of others. Set the example I'd like to see others follow."
- "I like places where things have happened, even if they were sad things."
- "I love the life of an adventurer, but I also find joy in simple things. Playing my flute. Reading a good book. I'm fascinated by history and magecraft. But I also love a good tale, well spun."
- "I reckon I can handle anything that comes at me on the road with good manners, common sense, and a full wineskin."
- "I try to think of the ghosts of my past as unfinished business I just haven't gotten to yet."
- "I'm always nervous about taking my horse to Altmer lands. I'd hate for him to meet Elven mounts and pick up bad habits."
- "I'm ready to face anything."
- "Killing time is dangerous. Eventually time will return the favor."
- "Let's go find someone to help."
- "Lord Silvelle taught me that a good horse is smarter than his rider, but under no circumstances should the horse be allowed to know this."
- "My only regrets are things I haven't done yet, so I prefer to think of them as goals."
- "Some say that the Mages Guild is just a fancy book club. A club with some very dangerous books, if you ask me."
- "Time can be invested, spent, or wasted. But however you use it, you never get it back."
- "The warrior who has never been defeated is the warrior who has never truly fought."
- "What's new?"
- "You want the truth? The thing I hate most about cheese is that it does terrible things to my digestion."
EMBER
Ember is a Khajiit member of the Mages Guild that prefers chaos to order, having grown up on the streets of Skywatch, Auridon. Feel free to pickpocket to your heart's content around her, but do not get caught, as she will not likely be pleased with you.
Availability: Always if you have access to the High Isle DLC
Cost: Free
Obtained: Complete Ember's third personal Companion, called "Green With Envy."
Lines Spoken by This Houseguest: Information forthcoming.
- "As much as I hate sitting around doing nothing, sometimes it's kind of nice to slow down for a bit. I don't mind this place for that very reason."
- "The Ascendant Order is a strange organization. It almost seems like they're being bad guys for the sake of it! I've got no respect for people like that."
- "Fish biscuits! I enchanted a spoon and now it's gone! I would say it didn't just get up and walk away but ... it actually might have."
- "I didn't have a home growing up, but I think if I did, I'd want it to be something like this."
- "I have a suspicion that my mother was from Elsweyr, but no real proof. I suppose I'll never know, but it's fun to imagine."
- "I never had a place to call home as a kid. It's strange to me to have a bed of my own and a pillow to put my head on... but nice, too."
- "I prefer to be optimistic about life. I mess up a lot, probably more than your average Khajiit, but at least I learn something every time. And I keep things exciting that way."
- "I spent so many years sleeping on the street with the stars as my ceiling ... it feels strange to be all surrounded. Not bad, just new. I feel a little out of my element."
- "I think I need to take it easy on experimenting with spells for a bit. I almost fried off my own tail last night. I'm not vain, but I'd rather keep my tail, I think."
- "I'm really thankful for my life. It wasn't always easy, but I've met a lot of good people and done a lot of interesting things. That's more than most can say"
- "I'm trying not to experiment too much with my spells here. It's a nice place, probably nicer if it's not infested with magicked toads. Though, that would be funny."
- "I've been working on a new spell to clean windows. I enchanted a broom and I'm calling it the Broom of Sparkle. Good, right?"
- "Lots of good food around these parts. I'm not all that picky, though. I'll eat anything, even off the street. What? It's still good!"
- "My name is a nickname, obviously. My friend Silverslip came up with it because of the color of my eyes, but her nickname is so much better!"
- "My friend Jhaka tried to teach me how to meditate the other day. I respect the big guy, but that stuff's just not for me. I can't sit still long enough! How does he do it?"
- "People think it's strange that I don't talk like other Khajiit. I mean ... I could try! This one, that one, you one, me one. How's that?"
- "People who are too careful with their magic are missing out on the fun! Part of the draw is the risk!"
- "Some frown upon stealing but I've never thought there was any moral attachment to it. For a lot of people, it's necessary. And for others, it's just fun!"
- "Sometimes I try to picture myself sitting in a guild hall poring over a dusty old book. It makes all my hair stand on end. Pure torture."
- "When I lived with Magister Irin, he tried to lock me out of all the fun places in Tor Draioch's tower. I like that I have a bit more freedom here."
ISOBEL VELOISE
Isobel Veloise is a newly minted Breton knight of High Isle. She is of the Veloise family, who are well-known and well-connected merchants in Tamriel. Now she is out to prove herself worthy of her title and find herself out in the big world of Tamriel.
Availability: Always if you have access to the High Isle DLC
Cost: Free
Obtained: Complete Isobel's second personal Companion quest, called "The Princess Detective."
Lines Spoken by This Houseguest:
- "All right, this is my final list. No more deliberation. Candied Walnuts, one. Sweetrolls, two. Hmm. Banana Bread, three. Saltwater Taffy from back home, four. And ... oh. Moonsugar Candies, five. That's it. Done."
- "The Ascendant Order's plot almost worked. Terrifying. Who would want to undo a bid to end the war?"
- "Aurelia might come to visit from time to time. I told her to make sure to bring Marso, make it a little party. We could play some Tribute together and use candies for bets."
- "Blessed be the name of Stendarr, the God of Mercy. He strengthens and unifies his Resolutes through his wisdom and blessings. He calls us by day to train with sword and shield to strengthen our might; and by night to strengthen our souls..."
- "Do you think I'd be any good as an author? I suppose I've seen enough interesting things to fill a book or two now. We should come up with a nom de plume! Hmm."
- "Draigh! I think I left something back at the castle. Well, it's your own fault Izzy. Like Erlibru used to say: you'd have lost your head years ago if it weren't stitched to your neck."
- "A friend of mine when I was young moved out of Gonfalon Bay to join her family at a druid enclave. I think about her sometimes, still. Wonder what became of her. Amazing people, druids, but they take their commitment to nature so seriously..."
- "Have you seen my copy of. Um. The Maiden's Tight Hold? I haven't had a chance to finish it yet and I just got to the best part."
- "I cannot believe Aurelia lost my family's signet ring. Just goes to show you how we change over the years, I suppose. The Isobel of today would never trust anyone with something so precious."
- "I couldn't help myself, I tidied up a bit. Look, you can take the knight out the castle but not the castle out of the knight."
- "I had a nickname when I was a child. Have I ever mentioned that? I won't tell you what it is ... too embarrassing by half."
- "I just spoke to my mother the other day. She was wearing this beautiful hat from Wayrest. Apparently they're all the rage right now. Nice to look at, but I could never pull off something like that. Not very practical in a pitched battle."
- "I think Aurelia's finally learned her lesson. And we've cleared my family name, as best we can. Now we can focus on more important things: candied banana bread and exploring ancient ruins."
- "I'm making a list of places I want to visit now that I'm a knight-errant, out in the world. Where would you like to go? I've got Summerset for sure. I've heard incredible things about those beaches. And maybe Elden Root? I'll keep thinking about it."
- "I'm thinking about taking up baking. I think I'd be quite good at it, I'm organized and careful in my actions. Now cooking on the other hand. That's an art beyond me. Give me a good set of instructions and let me loose."
- "I'm thinking of starting up a letter correspondence with Knight Commander Jourvel, my mentor back on High Isle. I bet she'd like that. She seems so lonely these days."
- "It's so relaxing here. Quite the change of pace from my days as a squire. Ahh."
- "Next adventure, let's look for a nice ring, or maybe a smoking pipe? My mother and father just completed a huge contract and I'd love to get them a gift to congratulate them."
- "Next time we go back to my parents' house I'll have to show you my little shrine to Stendarr. It's so cute. My father helped me carve this little war horn out of driftwood, and my mom and I painted it silver to look just like the real thing."
- "Stendarr preserve me, you have to hear this. I was talking to my father the other day and he said ... what do clams do on their birthday? And that man looked me right in the face and said: The shellebrate. I almost died."
- "We should hit a tavern sometime, when you have a moment. I love to hear bards perform. I'm a beef-wit when it comes to singing, but I love to listen."
- "When was the last time you were on a boat? Growing up on High Isle you have to learn to sail, it's like running or swimming for Tamsfolk. Just something you pick up. I'd be happy to take you out someday!"
MIRRI ELENDIS
Mirri is a Dark Elf whose family is just as shady as she is when it comes to acquisitions and adventure. A little insane, and a lot brave, Mirri will always be there for you -- as long as goblins, snakes, and boats are not involved.
Availability: Always if you have access to the Blackwood DLC
Cost: Free
Obtained: Reach Close rapport status with Mirri then complete her second personal quest called "Dead Weight."
Lines Spoken by This Houseguest:
- <Idle humming.>
- "Are we waiting for someone? Some thing? Just because?"
- "Dealing with Ashlanders is dangerous, but they really are a great source for my Daedra research."
- "Feeling chatty, are we?"
- "How did you ever get through these long periods of quiet without me?"
- "I can see why mom has been so reluctant to settle in at home. There's too much to this world to spend our time on it in one place."
- "I can't stand Goblins. Or snakes. Or boats. They all make me want to retch, for different reasons. The less we deal with any of them, the better."
- "I don't suppose we have anything to cook?"
- "I love maps and old books. I can lose myself in a library or booksellers for days on end! I'm also a bit of an oenophile. It means I like wine. A lot."
- "I miss roasting pupal scribs over a fire. So sweet and airy, with a hint of crunch."
- "I shouldn't have had that last snack."
- "I sometimes wonder what it must be like for Daedra. Going through their lives with no real sense of time passing them by. Where loss and death are annoying trivialities. No wonder they feel powerful, and hollow."
- "I've had so many near death experiences since I met you. I really need to go make an offering to the Three before they think me ungrateful."
- "Miss me?"
- "My dad's an antiquarian. He gave me an appreciation of cultural artifacts. Mom showed me how to find them. I prefer to treat such things with the respect they deserve."
- "Some people don't like the bustle of cities, but I come from a big family, so it reminds me of home."
- "There's an old saying about those who forget history. I don't remember it, but it's really good."
- "What do you say we try some of the local fare? I'm famished."
- "What?"
- "What's on the docket today?"
