• Complete the Voices in the Dark quest. You may obtain the quest by going to an Outlaws Refuge in any city and speaking with Amelie Crowe. If you receive a message on your screen informing you that you cannot attack a target due to a setting, you need to turn that setting off. Press the ESC key and go to Settings > Gameplay > Combat section > Set 'Prevent Attacking Innocents' to 'Off'. Completion of this quest grants the Dark Brotherhood skill line.
  
  
• Complete the Signed in Blood quest, given by Speaker Terenus inside the Anvil Lighthouse. Completion grants you permanent access to the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary.
  
  
• Complete the Welcome Home quest, given by Astara Caerellius in the center of the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary where you turned in the last quest.
  
  
• Complete the Contract: Kvatch quest, given by Elam Drals on the southwestern side of the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary where you turned in the last quest.
  
  
• Contract daily quests are now unlocked for your character.

These quests are given by Speaker Terenus located at the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary in the Gold Coast.

Each quest specifies one primary target, giving you an optional way to kill them. Additionally, a secondary target is specified, whom you may kill any way you wish. In order to meet all objectives (to get the highest reward) you must kill the primary objective in the specified way, kill the secondary target, keep from reaching Alert Status 5, and get out of the instance before the timer ends.

In these quests, the more objectives you complete, the bigger your reward.

In these quests, you are a Trespasser. You will be given a bounty the first time you are spotted, and may receive additional bounty amounts. As always, a witnessed murder increases your bounty. Leaving the instance will not wipe your bounty clean; you will still have it.

All assassination targets are marked with a handprint above their heads. The targets' names will vary.

Every quest has a secondary objective of not alerting the denizens of the area. Each time you are spotted the Alert Status raises by one point. If you reach five points, the entire place is alerted to your presence and your job becomes harder.

Every quest has a secondary objective of leaving before the overseer arrives. To do so, you must be out of the area within two minutes of murdering your primary objective. Your timer begins the moment you murder your primary objective. So, if you are looking to reach the maximum reward, kill your primary objective last in the manner specified.

In order to murder the primary objective with poison, simply equip poison in your weapon poison inventory slot as you would to apply it in a combat situation.

Unidentified Sithis' Touch Equipment boxes from Black Sacrament Daily quests have a chance to give you a Dark Brotherhood Motif.

These quests are given by a book called Marked for Death located inside the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary of the Gold Coast.

Unlike other daily quests, you may pick up as many of these a day as you like on a single character. Any quest completed after the first for the day will only reward five Roguish Draughts.

If you do not like the quest you received, you may drop it and try for another one.

There are two types of contracts: Spree contracts and regular assassination contracts. All contracts named Contract: <zone> Spree request that you assassinate three people within a certain place. All of the contracts named Contract: <zone> request that you murder a specific individual within a certain place. Both the name of the individual and the place vary. For these contracts, the named victim will have the symbol of a hand over their heads.
