POINT OF NO RETURN: ARCANA OBSCURA

Caithe has run off with an egg, and you need to find her and that egg.

Once you speak to Ogden Stonehealer in the Durmand Priory Special Collections, he asks you to find a book, which is close by.

The book that you are looking for is called "Fire of the Gods."

Now, you must find three relics in order to summon divine fire and enter the cave.

Find a "Faded Map" nearby, which is sitting on some crates and simply requires you to run over to it.

Find the "Journal of Lord Valodor". To do this:

  • Go over to the stairs (but do not go up them) and turn to your Left.

  • Go to the first/closest set of balcony stairs you see from where you are standing.

  • Go up the stairs on the Right Side.

  • Follow the balcony all the way back until you see the required book sitting on top of a bookshelf betwen the balcony.

  • Jump onto the balcony railing and then onto the bookcase to retrieve the book.

Find the "Elonian Basket". To do this:

  • From atop the bookshelf where you found the last item, drop down to the floor below and exit into the larger aisle from the smaller aisle.

  • Turn to your Left.

  • Go to the balcony stairs in front of you.

  • Turn to your Right and continue onward until you come to an aisle.

  • Stop there and turn to face it. Run all the way to the back of the aisle to obtain the basket. You will have to jump onto some crates stacked against a pillar to the left of it to get the basket.

Return to Ogden and let the fight begin.

POINT OF NO RETURN: THE MYSTERY CAVE

You may need a bit of instruction on how to defeat the Shadow of the Dragon. This will tell you how to do so.

This fight has three distinct phases that the boss switches between.

Phase 1: Shadow Tendrils

  • When you first begin the fight, you do not get to damage the boss.

  • The boss will switch back and forth between this phase and phase 2.

  • The boss will spawn shadow tendrils that behave similarly to regular jungle tendrils, except that their ranged attacks both blind and poison you.

  • The number of shadow tendrils that spawn depends on the health of the boss. The more health that the boss has, the more shadow tendrils that spawn.

  • The goal of this phase is to kill all of the tendrils, forcing the boss into Phase 2.

  • Though the boss is invulnerable, it is still determined to hurt you and has three attacks (plus one that appears later):

    • A roar that damages you and launches with an orange triangle.

    • A slam attack to the center of the ring.

    • A shockwave attack around the border of the ring.

    • After the boss's health lowers, a fourth attack is added: Boulders that daze you pop up from the ground in a line across the circle. You might be able to see the attack coming by watching for a line of dust to form just before the attack.

  • As soon as all of the tendrils are dead, the boss dives into the center of the ring. This causes a shockwave over all but the border of the ring, which is where you need to be standing. The knockback does little damage, however.

Phase 2: Divine Fire

  • The boss will switch back and forth between this phase and phase 1.

  • Before you can damage the boss, you must successfully light 4 fire points around the ring with Divine Fire, encircling the boss.

  • Rox will throw circles into the ring that contain Divine Fire. You must enter one of these circles to obtain the fire. Once your body is flaming, showing that you obtained the Divine Fire, go to one of the fire lighting points and light the fire by using the prompted key (default keybind: F).

  • If you take too long to light all four fires, a Divine Fire that you lit will go out, starting with the oldest fire.

  • While you are attempting to light fires, there are several things you need to contend with:

    • Eight large plant bombs will appear and will explode if you get too close to them, launching you. You can safely explode a bomb by running over the halfway point on the vines that appear between the bombs. Make certain you do not stay in range of its explosion, though.

    • The dragon does a knockdown claw attack. You can keep yourself upright if you are standing within a bubble shield that Braham throws into the ring before the attack. Use the bubbles that appear at the fire lighting locations to continue lighting your fires. Note that the dragon's claw attack occurs twice in a row.

    • The dragon springs from the ground with a bite attack that launches you in the air, damages you, cripples you, and bleeds you. Braham's bubbles cannot help you against this attack. This attack cannot be countered with Stability.

    • Just like in phase 1, boulders continue to pop up out of the ground in lines across the ring. You might be able to see the attack coming by watching for a line of dust to form just before the attack.

    • Smothering Shadows will spawn, one each time a fire is lit. It is the job of the Smothering Shadow to extinguish the fire you lit. You cannot kill a Smothering Shadow unless you are lit with Divine Fire when you attack it. Killing them, however, removes the Fire from you.

  • Rox will summon bone minions to give you a little backup on the DPS here.

  • Once all four fires are lit, Phase 3 begins.

Phase 3: Kill the Dragon

  • You must do as much damage as you possibly can, and as quickly as you possibly can, while Phase 3 is active.

  • The dragon's head will come up out of the ground in the center of the ring during this phase.

  • Falling boulders from the ceiling can hurt you. Avoid them.

  • Ranged attacks are best for ths phase, as it assists you in avoiding the falling boulders, especiallly around the dragon's head.

  • When the boss's health reaches to below 50%, it spawns Malformed Shadows.

  • At 25% remaining on the boss's health, Marjory and Kasmer send minions to help you finish it off.

  • Eventually, a Smothering Shadow you cannot kill appears and destroys the ring of fire containing the boss. This restarts Phase 1 unless the boss had died.
